Site shows down but loads fine

Last updated October 22, 2026

Your site loads in your browser, but UptimeVitals says it is down. The usual causes, in order:

  1. One failed check is not an incident. A down alert needs two consecutive failures, so a single blip never pages you. If the incident is still open after that, something is really failing from the checker's side.
  2. Your firewall or Cloudflare is blocking automated checks. This is the most common cause. Some hosts and Cloudflare rules return a block page to datacenter traffic while letting browsers through. When UptimeVitals gets a 401/403 block response, it records the site as blocked — a warning, not a down incident — but a hard block or timeout can still read as down. If your host or Cloudflare blocks automated checks, allow the checker through or ask your host to.
  3. The site is genuinely down from some networks. Regional outages and DNS problems can make a site unreachable from the checker's network while it loads for you.

After any fix, open the site's detail page and click Run check now to confirm the check goes green immediately.
